Operations Manager

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager supports the Company in project work and business development. By applying engineering and interpersonal skills the Operations Manager’s principal role is to accomplish a safe, successful and profitable operation resulting in a satisfied customer and increasing client base.

 

KPIs:    Works Request Average Response Time, No of Accidents Requiring Medical Care, No of Near Miss Accidents, No of Environmental Accidents

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide overall direction and administration of the assigned projects, effectively managing several activities and projects at one time;
  • Manage the assigned personnel, equipment and subcontractors – supervision, planning coordination and labour relations;
  • Manage work force planning, and that performance is coordinated and monitored according to the schedule, with strict adherence to safety, quality and budget considerations;
  • Maintain project work site in a safe and environmentally sound condition. Initiate corrective action for any unsafe or environmentally unsound condition.  Report situations as per company and customer regulations and procedures;
  • Act as the Company’s main contact with the customer for the resolution of operational issues;
  • Ensure that all customer and company policies are adhered to in the completion of the assigned projects;
  • Interface as required with customer contact and constantly seek opportunities to sell additional services;
  • Conduct walk-downs and formal audits of all jobs being performed as part of any given project;
  • Maintain a detailed daily log of the events of the project;
  • Actively participate in feedback and post-job evaluation of projects;
  • Monitor assigned equipment for signs of mechanical problems and work with the General Manager to ensure there are no on-job equipment failures;
  • Monitor morale of personnel on project and strive to maintain at high level and a “can do” attitude;
  • Liaise with the site supervisor to ensure a smooth site operations on all levels;
  • Identify personnel capable of advancement and provide necessary on the job training;
  • Compile plan of works, method statements, and risk assessments in relation to projects and ensure that these are endorsed by the competent authorities;
  • Establish project tracking to provide statistics such as cost per day, % completion, etc. as required;
  • Liaise with the General Manager to ensure compliance, permitting, etc., for respective projects;
  • Assist the sales force in preparation of estimates and procedures in planning of projects, with emphasis on operational efficiency;
  • Understand proposal and quotes to manage the commercial aspects of project;
  • Travel out of country for periods of time to manage projects overseas as business needs may require.
